Ok, ok, the opportunities might not be spooky, but I do feel like this website is a bit of a zombie emerging from a grave since it’s been SO LONG since I’ve updated it! Good news: I’m checking back in just in time to let you know of four opportunities across all education levels that are OPEN NOW! These include a virtual program for high school teachers hosted by IQC, summer research programs through the AFRL Scholars Program and Minority Serving Institutions Internship Program, and a Quantum Science Camp in Wyoming. Brief descriptions are provided below, along with links for more details, eligibility info, and applications. Please share with any interested students/educators!

Quantum for Educators Virtual Sessions – HS educators

To supplement their long-running in-person Quantum for Educators (QEd) workshop, the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) at the University of Waterloo is excited to announce a series of online workshops this November designed to help educators prepare for the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology in 2025. These free sessions will run in the evenings November 18-21 and explore how fundamental quantum principles are applied in emerging quantum technologies, all with accessible, hands-on, and curriculum-relevant activities for students.  Register by Friday, November 3, 2024

AFRL Scholars Program – CC, HS, UG, students & educators

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Scholars Program offers stipend-paid internship opportunities for high school, community college, and undergraduate students as well as professional educators.  The selected interns gain valuable hands-on experiences working with full-time AFRL scientists and engineers on cutting-edge research and technology and are able to contribute to unique, research-based projects. And yes – there are quantum projects: enter “atom” as a keyword for Kirtland session or “quantum” for Eglin session.  Deadline January 10, 2025

Quantum Science Camp – HS students & educators

The Quantum Science Summer Camp held July 14-25, 2025 is a unique opportunity at Casper College in Casper, WY for high school students and their teachers who are energized to study and use quantum science.  The opportunity for students and teachers to learn from leading researchers, scientists, and professionals in the field of quantum science brings a level of learning and interaction to the Quantum Science Summer Camp that is world-class.  Apply by April 30, 2025

Minority Serving Institutions Internship Program – CC students

Applications are open for the Minority Serving Institutions Internship Program, providing undergraduate students enrolled at MSIs the opportunity to participate in paid summer internships at DOE National Labs across the country.  Deadline October 27, 2024
