Two of my favorite programs here in New Mexico have opened applications recently for Summer 2025 providing opportunities for community college students, undergraduate students, and even graduate students! Read on to learn how you could get paid to spend your summer doing quantum research in the Land of Enchantment!
The University of New Mexico’s Quantum Undergraduate Research Experience at CHTM, or QU-REACH, is a ten-week summer undergraduate research program open to students currently attending any College or University in the state of New Mexico who are interested in Quantum Technology research. This includes 2- and 4-year institutions! This paid opportunity provides a $7,000 stipend to students in addition to housing stipends for students attending schools outside of the Albuquerque metro area. Learn more here and apply by March 7, 2025!
The Quantum Computing Summer School Fellowship at Los Alamos National Lab is an immersive 10-week curriculum that includes tutorials from world-leading experts in quantum computation as well as one-on-one mentoring from LANL staff scientists who are conducting cutting-edge quantum computing research. Summer school fellowship recipients will be exposed to the theoretical foundations of quantum computation and will become skilled at programming commercial quantum computers, such as those developed by D-Wave Systems, Quera, Quantinuum, and IBM. This is a paid fellowship, with stipends ranging from $10,000 to $20,000, based on academic rank. Learn more here and apply by January 19!
