Looking for something to do this winter break?  Here’s a list off all the quantum research opportunities with open applications and a deadline within the first 10 days of January!  And don’t forget to scroll to the bottom to learn more about a free quantum career fair open to all!

High School Teachers:

The AFRL Scholars Program has postings for professional educators to join AFRL’s Kirtland/AMOS Summer 2025 session in Albuquerque, NM for quantum research on the “Cold Atom Experimentation and Instrumentation” project.  Apply by January 10!

High School Students:

The CQN Winter School on Quantum Networks is a free week of tutorials for all education levels hosted on Zoom January 6-10.  Register today!

The AFRL Scholars Program has postings for high school students to join AFRL’s Kirtland/AMOS Summer 2025 session in Albuquerque, NM for quantum research on the “Cold Atom Experimentation and Instrumentation” and “Cold Atom Sources” projects.  Apply by January 10!

Community College Students:

The DOE Community College Internships program offers paid summer internships at national labs across the country.  When applying, you can specify your first and second choice labs and indicate your interest in quantum science.  Apply by January 8!

The AFRL Scholars Program has postings for lower-level undergraduate students to join AFRL’s Kirtland/AMOS and Eglin Summer 2025 sessions in Albuquerque, NM and Florida for research on cold atoms, spectroscopy, and other quantum effects.  Apply by January 10!

Undergraduate Students:

The Undergraduate School on Experimental Quantum Information Processing is a free two-week program May 26-June 6 at the University of Waterloo.  Travel support and stipends are available!  Apply by January 3!

The Caltech QuantumSURF program provides summer undergraduate research fellowships in experimental quantum science and technology through 10-week internships with Caltech’s quantum groups.  The WAVE program is specifically for women or prospective students from underrepresented backgrounds.  Applications for WAVE and SURF are open now, but to be considered for WAVE, apply by January 9!

The AFRL Scholars Program has postings for lower- and upper-level undergraduate students to join AFRL’s Kirtland/AMOS and Eglin Summer 2025 sessions in Albuquerque, NM and Florida for research on different quantum applications and technologies.  Apply by January 10!

The QIST in the CSU program provides internships in Sandia National Labs’ quantum programs specifically for undergraduate students enrolled at Cal State University campuses.  Apply by January 10!

Quantum Career Fair

The DOE’s five National Quantum Information Science (QIS) Research Centers are coordinating to bring you the 2025 International Year of Quantum QIS Career Fair on January 22.  Attendees will hear from national and global experts in government, academia, and industry about the QIS market, careers, and internships, from scientific and engineering roles to business positions that facilitate research objectives.  Register by January 21 for this FREE event to attend a talk, panel, or chat with researchers and employers in the exhibit hall!
